Rajouri, Jul 21: The Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri has received approval for 50 additional MBBS seats, increasing its annual intake capacity from 100 to 150 seats, Health and Medical Education Minister Sakeena Itoo announced on Tuesday.
Sharing the development, the Minister said the approval followed the successful enhancement of MBBS seats at Government Medical College Jammu and Government Medical College Srinagar, marking another significant step towards strengthening medical education infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sakina Itoo said the increase in intake capacity would create greater opportunities for aspiring medical students while contributing to the availability of a larger pool of trained healthcare professionals in the Union Territory.
She attributed the achievement to the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and reiterated the government’s commitment to expanding quality medical education and improving healthcare services across Jammu and Kashmir.
The Minister said the government was focused on enhancing educational infrastructure in medical institutions, increasing access to professional education and building a stronger and more accessible healthcare system for the people. [KNT]
