Dir Horticulture visits hail storm affected areas of Shopian to assess situation

Shopian, Aug 15: Director Horticulture Kashmir, Vikas Anand along with Member Legislative Assembly Zainapora Showkat Ahmad Ganaie and Chief Horticulture Officer (CHO) Shopian, Saturday visited the hailstorm-affected areas of the district including Kapran, Pudsoo, Kanjiullar, Feeripora, Mandujan, Pandushan, HP Batagund and other villages to assess damage to local orchards.
During the visit, the Director interacted with affected orchardists and assured them that the department will take every possible measure to safeguard their interests. He instructed technical officers and subject matter specialists to immediately reach out to the farming community and provide effective guidance on crop management.
Furthermore, field functionaries were directed to expedite the assessment of crop losses so that a comprehensive report can be submitted to higher authorities at the earliest.
The Chief Horticulture Officer, Shopian, urged farmers to contact his office for technical support and guidance to minimize damage. Field officials have also been instructed to actively assist orchardists in managing their fields to protect crop yield and ensure better financial returns.
