Pending recruitment rules: Employees of five new GMCs begin indefinite strike

Ganderbal, Aug 18: Administrative functioning in Ganderbal district has been affected as several key departments are either functioning without regular heads or have officers holding additional charges, leading to difficulties in the smooth disposal of public matters.
Among the posts reportedly lying vacant are those of Tehsildar Ganderbal and Tehsildar Tulmulla. Several other important offices are also functioning under officers holding additional responsibilities.
The situation is particularly noticeable in the Rural Development Department, where Block Development Offices, including Gund and Safapora, are functioning amid administrative constraints. The posts of Project Officer ICDS and other key departmental positions have also been affected by additional-charge arrangements.
Sources said that the officers in departments including Fisheries, Floriculture, and Mining are also holding additional charges, with some officials entrusted with responsibilities outside their respective districts, further adding to the administrative burden.
Locals said several public issues related to these departments remain pending. They further said that the practice of assigning additional charges and keeping key posts vacant is adversely affecting administrative functioning and causing delays in the disposal of public grievances.
Locals urged the authorities to fill the vacant posts on priority and ensure the presence of full-time officers so that public services and developmental works are not hampered. (KNO)
