Jammu, Oct 30: A Lieutenant and a soldier were killed while an army man was injured in a mine blast along Line of Control in Rajouri district on Saturday afternoon, official sources said.
They said that during a routine patrolling near forward location in Lam sector of Naushera in Rajouri district a mysterious explosion took place which left two soldiers including the lieutenant, grievously injured. Both the injured were evacuated to hospital in a critical condition, they further said.
In a statement issued later, defence ministry’s spokesman based in Jammu said during an area domination patrol in Naushera Sector, a mine blast occurred, wherein, two soldiers suffered critical injuries and later succumbed to their injuries. Another soldier who received injuries was evacuated and is under treatment, he said.
He identified the killed soldiers as Lieutenant Rishi Kumar and Sepoy Manjit. “They were brave and extremely committed to the profession of soldiering and have made the supreme sacrifice for the nation in the line of active duty,” he said.
Rishi Kumar was a resident of Begusarai, Bihar and Sepoy Manjit Singh belonged to Sirvewala, Bhatinda, Punjab. (GNS)
