BJP protest aimed at disrupting Question Hour: Karra

Srinagar, Sep 21: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president Tariq Hameed Karra on Monday accused the BJP of disrupting Question Hour in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly to divert attention from issues concerning the people.
Speaking to reporters, Karra said the BJP should have answered questions on issues including restoration of statehood, “Chanda Chori” and paper leaks instead of disrupting the proceedings.
“Across the country, you can see how people are standing behind Rahul Gandhi. The uproar or drama that you witnessed here today was an unsuccessful attempt to subvert those issues,” he said.
Karra said questions on these issues were also raised from the Treasury Benches during the Assembly proceedings. “The BJP should have answered questions on issues such as restoration of statehood, the alleged donation scam and paper leaks. Questions were also raised from the Treasury Benches on these matters,” he said.
He said the BJP’s intention was to disrupt Question Hour and divert attention from what he described as alleged wrongdoings of the Central Government and its local unit.
“Their intention was to disturb Question Hour and divert attention from their alleged wrongdoings, whether those of the Central Government or the local unit,” Karra said. (KNO)
