Srinagar, Sep 26: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar, under the guidance of Tasleem Arief, Chairman DLSA (Incharge), Saturday conducted an awareness programme on NALSA (Legal Services to Senior Citizens) Scheme, 2016, NALSA (Legal Services to the workers in the Unorganized Sector) Scheme 2015 and NALSA ( Effective Implementation of Poverty Alleviation Schemes) Scheme 2015, at Sangri, Khonmoh, Srinagar, with the objective of sensitizing the local community about legal rights, free legal aid and access to justice.
The programme was conducted by Panel Lawyers Advocate Sofiya Mudassir and Advocate Suhaila Ali, along with Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) Imtiyaza, Basira Jan, Shabir Kathwari, Hashim Qureshi and Muzamil Zahoor.
During the programme, participants were informed about their basic legal rights, the availability of free legal services through Legal Services Authorities and the various avenues available for seeking legal assistance and accessing justice.
The speakers also encouraged the participants to approach the Legal Services Authorities whenever they require legal assistance, particularly those who are unable to afford legal representation.
Pamphlets containing information regarding legal rights, free legal services and available legal assistance were also distributed among the participants and members of the local community to further enhance legal awareness.
The programme formed part of the ongoing legal awareness and outreach initiatives of DLSA Srinagar aimed at taking legal services to the doorsteps of the community.
