Uri, Oct 3 Traffic on the Uri National Highway in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district will remain suspended for two days this month to facilitate hill-cutting work, officials said on Saturday.
According to an official order issued by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Uri, the highway will be closed on October 4 and October 11 (both Sundays).
The closure has been sanctioned following a request from the Officer Commanding, 53 RCC (GREF), the order stated.
“The General Public, commuters and transport operators are advised to use the alternative route via Bandi-Paranpillan-Dachi during the period of closure,” the order issued by SDM Prince Kumar said.
To minimize inconvenience during the work week, authorities have directed that no hill-cutting work shall be executed on government working days between 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM and from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM.
The executing agency has been instructed to keep the road open for vehicular movement during these specific hours and ensure all necessary safety measures for commuters. (KNS)
