Two more arrested in Chatroo minor death case

Kishtwar, Oct 6: The investigation into the death of a minor girl in Chatroo area of Kishtwar district has widened further with the arrest of two more persons, taking the total number of arrests in the case to 12.
The latest arrests include a medical shop owner and a government teacher, whose alleged roles surfaced during the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the minor’s pregnancy, subsequent medical treatment and events preceding her death.
The case was initially registered at Police Station Chatroo and was later transferred to the Special Crime Wing of the Crime Branch, where a fresh case was registered and a Special Investigation Team constituted to examine the role of persons connected with the matter.
Investigators have collected medical records from health facilities in Chatroo, Kishtwar and Doda besides examining witnesses, transportation details and electronic evidence. Biological samples and other material have also been preserved for forensic examination.
The Crime Branch is continuing to ascertain the individual role of the accused and others who came into contact with the minor during the period under investigation. [KNT]
