DDC Bandipora chairs Mega Block Diwas at Ajas, reviews developmental issues

Bandipora, Oct 7: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib Wednesday chaired a Mega Block Diwas at Panchayat Ghar, Ajas, to take stock of essential amenities, ongoing developmental works and issues concerning the public.
During the programme, issues related to healthcare, education, sports infrastructure, irrigation, water supply, roads, power, Fire & Emergency Services and other public amenities were brought to the notice of the administration.
On healthcare, the need for strengthening facilities at the Health Centre Ajas, including ECG facility and availability of night-time healthcare services, was highlighted. The DDC directed CMO Bandipora to verify the authorised facilities available at the centre and assess the requirements.
The provision of suitable State land for a hospital and playground was also discussed. The DDC directed the ACR Bandipora to examine the availability and status of land and take further action as per rules.
On the occasion, the issue of shifting GDC Ajas from the existing Infrastructure to its own building was taken up. The concerned officers were directed to assess the available facilities and requirements for shifting, while the requirements for laboratories and other infrastructure for introducing the Science stream were also discussed.
During the event, the need for irrigation facilities for agricultural land, restoration of water channels and improvement of dewatering facilities were also discussed. The concerned engineering officers were directed to conduct field assessments and examine the requirements.
On water supply, concerns regarding adequate supply to Bazipora-Ajas and repair of existing borewells were discussed. Issues pertaining to road connectivity and maintenance, side-wall requirements along link roads, Fire & Emergency Services infrastructure, fencing of the Higher Secondary School, power-related issues and other civic amenities were also discussed.
The DDC also directed the concerned authorities to intensify the anti-encroachment drive and take action against encroachments in accordance with rules, while stressing the need for community cooperation in protecting public infrastructure and ensuring smooth implementation of developmental works.
The DDC directed the concerned officers to undertake on-ground assessments, verify the requirements and submit necessary proposals/DPRs wherever required, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution of genuine public grievances within the scope of available resources and schemes.
Among others, the event was attended by Programme Officer ICDS, Assistant Commissioner Development, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, CMO, CHO, Executive Engineers and DySSO Bandipora, besides local representatives and residents.
