J&K Circular Economy Policy decisive step towards green growth: CM

Srinagar, Oct 16: Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma on Friday criticised the Omar Abdullah-led government as it completed two years in office, accusing it of failing to address key public issues, including staff shortages in schools, vacant posts in hospitals, water supply problems and the concerns of daily wagers.
Sharma described the government’s response to criticism over its two-year tenure as “disgusting” and said it had hurt public sentiment.
“Children are not able to study due to staff shortage in schools, people are dying in hospitals as doctor and paramedic posts are vacant, people are not getting water — and they say only 2 years have passed,” Sharma said.
He alleged that the government had neither filled vacant posts nor referred them to any recruitment agency, accusing it of failing to deliver on employment and essential public services.
Sharma also criticised the National Conference government over its handling of the daily wagers’ issue, rejecting its alleged attempt to hold the Chief Secretary responsible for the delay.
“NC blaming the Chief Secretary for the daily wagers issue, saying he doesn’t submit reports as he is under LG and BJP, is a complete lie to hide its own failure,” he said.
Claiming that the government had powers over most administrative matters except police and law and order, Sharma said the administration had clarified the position earlier. He questioned why the NC government had taken two years to raise the issue as an explanation for its shortcomings, adding that the party had blamed the Union Territory administration for five years previously.
“The truth is Abdullah family is only filling its own coffers through corruption and will do nothing for daily wagers,” Sharma alleged.
He further accused ministers and officers of corruption, claiming that the government had failed to perform across sectors. (KINS)
