Anantnag, Oct 22: Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Thursday said the Omar Abdullah-led government remains committed to fulfilling its election manifesto promises within its five-year tenure and urged people to have faith in the elected government.
Speaking to reporters in Anantnag, Choudhary said the government was working to address several public issues and that people should judge its performance over its full term.
“The trust and confidence with which the people of Jammu and Kashmir elected the Omar Abdullah government carries a responsibility. We have made certain promises in our manifesto, and we will fulfil them within five years,” he said.
Responding to a question about the resolution of a particular public issue, the Deputy Chief Minister said it was only one of several matters requiring government attention.
“This is one issue. There are many other issues that we have to resolve,” he said.
Choudhary also criticised opposition parties for what he described as unnecessary attacks on the government and alleged that certain media outlets were publishing reports at the behest of political parties or individuals.
‎He urged people not to be influenced by such criticism and instead maintain confidence in Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
‎”People should have faith in Omar Sahib. He is an honest leader who has always fulfilled his promises and will continue to do so,” Choudhary said.
The Deputy Chief Minister reiterated that the government would continue working towards fulfilling the commitments made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. (KNS)
