Srinagar, Oct 27: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani on Tuesday acknowledged resentment and disappointment among National Conference (NC) legislators following the cabinet expansion, saying every MLA aspires to become a minister, but Jammu and Kashmir’s Union Territory status poses its own challenges.
Talking to media persons here, Wani said it was natural for legislators to harbour ministerial ambitions, but accommodating everyone in the cabinet was not possible.
“It’s obvious, as everybody has an ambition to become a minister, but we are facing challenges as we are in a Union Territory and have enough MLAs,” Wani said.
Acknowledging the possibility of resentment among party legislators who were not inducted into the cabinet, he said they had every right to feel disappointed.
“There may be resentment or disappointment, and they have the right to be angry because they are the family,” he said.
The CM’s Advisor added that people in every constituency naturally wanted their elected representative to become a minister, but fulfilling everyone’s aspirations was difficult. “It is not possible,” he said.
On senior NC leader Mubarak Gul, Wani said party president Dr Farooq Abdullah had appointed him as the party’s general secretary, adding that Gul would now work in that capacity. (KNO)
