Srinagar, Nov 2: HDFC Bank’s corporate social responsibility programme, Parivartan, has impacted 18,706 people across Jammu and Kashmir, with interventions spanning agriculture, education, skill development, healthcare, financial literacy and clean energy, the bank said on Monday.
According to the bank, its programme has been active in Jammu and Kashmir since 2014 and covers 15 of the Union Territory’s 20 districts, including 16 border villages in the aspirational districts of Kupwara and Baramulla.
Under its rural development initiatives, the programme has supported 10,128 farmers through capacity-building, farmer collectives, shared machinery, processing facilities and solar-powered infrastructure.
In the education sector, 901 scholarships have been awarded under the bank’s Educational Crisis Scholarship Support programme, while 60 smart schools have been established, benefiting approximately 15,000 students.
The bank said its skill development and livelihood initiatives have trained 1,057 young people and supported 189 women through employability, entrepreneurship and traditional craft-based activities.
Under its natural resource management initiatives, the programme has supported 104 villages with clean-energy solutions, including solar-powered systems and community lighting. Financial fraud awareness initiatives, including the Vigil Aunty campaign, have reached more than 1.72 lakh people.
The bank also highlighted interventions supporting saffron cultivation in Pampore through solar water pumps and dryers, apple and walnut processing facilities, and Kashmiri red chilli cultivation in Uri through polyhouse farming, drip irrigation and solar dryers.
A shared brand, SAMARKASH, has been established to help participating farmer-producer organisations market processed agricultural products through branding, packaging and market-linkage support.
Nusrat Pathan, Head of CSR at HDFC Bank, said the programme focused on need-based interventions tailored to regional challenges, including sustainable agriculture, education, skills and infrastructure.
The bank said it had spent Rs 1,316 crore on CSR initiatives nationwide as of March 31, 2026, and that its Parivartan programme had impacted more than 10.77 crore lives across India. [KNT]
