Jammu, Nov 3 : BJP senior leader Ravinder Raina on Tuesday said the reported resignation of National Conference (NC) MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi posed a major political challenge for the party’s leadership, including its president Farooq Abdullah and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
Describing Ruhullah as an experienced and outspoken political leader, Raina said the developments within the ruling party reflected serious internal differences and had nothing to do with the BJP.
Raina said Ruhullah had considerable political experience, having served as a three-time MLA, a minister and currently as a Member of Parliament.
Taking a dig at the NC leadership, the BJP leader said the party appeared to be grappling with an internal crisis that could create difficulties for its top leadership.
He also referred to the reported separate meetings of 25 NC legislators, saying such developments indicated growing differences within the ruling party.
Raina further referred to allegations of corruption and misconduct reportedly levelled against certain ministers by members of the legislators’ camp, saying these issues had added to the challenges confronting the party leadership.
He said the developments within the National Conference were emerging as a significant political challenge for Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah, particularly at a time when the party was dealing with internal disagreements. (KNS)
