Bandipora, Nov 5: A convergent programme of the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) and Tribal Affairs Department was Thursday organised at Mini Secretariat, Bandipora, as part of Janjatiya Gaurav Divas 2026.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib distributed 27 Aadhaar tablets and 27 single fingerprint scanners among Anganwadi Workers, including tribal workers from Gurez, Tulail, Bagtore, Arin, Aloosa, Bandipora, Sumbal and Hajin, to facilitate Bal Aadhaar enrolment of children aged 0–5 years.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed achieving saturation in Bal Aadhaar enrolment and directed that designated Anganwadi Workers be properly notified at the grassroots level, with special focus on tribal areas.
District Programme Officer, ICDS, Bandipora, Yaar Ali Khan informed that the devices were provided to workers who had qualified the CELC Operator examination as per UIDAI guidelines.
During the programme, a presentation of Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM) was presented, showcasing handicrafts, traditional products, edible items and other products manufactured by Self-Help Groups across J&K. The presentation highlighted the potential of local products in generating sustainable livelihoods and promoting the spirit of Vocal for Local.
Emphasising that financial independence is essential for self-reliance and dignity, the DC stressed promoting women-led enterprises and strengthening livelihood opportunities. She directed the DPO ICDS to submit an action plan within 15 days and assured that training and capacity-building support would be provided to interested women.
During the event, Books were also distributed among inmates of Gujjar and Bakarwal Boys Hostel, Bandipora, to encourage reading habits among tribal students.
Additional District Development Commissioner Nazir Ahmad Mir and Chief Planning Officer Muhammad Maqbool Lone were also present on the occasion.
