Srinagar, Nov 6: The Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday carried out searches at around 10 locations across the Valley in connection with a terror recruitment case involving an alleged module accused of radicalising and recruiting youth through social media platforms.
An official said that searches were conducted at multiple residential premises in Budgam, Safakadal and Zainakote areas of Srinagar, Bijbehara and Mattan in Anantnag district, and parts of Pulwama.
The raids were carried out by CIK teams in coordination with local police and revenue officials in the presence of executive magistrates, he said.
“The case, registered as FIR No. 07/2023 at Police Station CIK Srinagar, pertains to an alleged terror recruitment module operating through social media platforms to radicalise and recruit youth into proscribed terrorist organisations,” the official said.
According to the official, the investigation was launched following inputs indicating that Pakistan-based operatives, allegedly working in coordination with handlers of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and other banned outfits, were attempting to lure Kashmiri youth into terrorist activities.
Further investigation is underway. (KNO)
