Transformer develops snag third time in one month

Pulwama, Apr 20: The residents of Panzgam village of Awantipora area in South Kashmir are reeling under darkness as the areas transformer has developed technical snag for the third time in the last one month.

Locals from Herpora Panzgam said that they are reeling under darkness in the holy month of Ramadan as transformer got damaged third time in a month.

They said that amid the closure of schools their children classes and exams are being conducted online, which requires electricity but in the absence of electricity, they are facing a lot of inconvenience.

They further added that the power transformer in the area breaks down repeatedly and on several occasions they informed the department to look into the matter but to no avail.

“This transformer was repaired around 10 days before but it again got damaged due to which we are facing a lot of problems at Sehri and Iftari time,” said Mohammad Shafi a local resident.

“We had repeatedly requested the higher authorities to install another transformer in the neighbourhood so that we will not face any difficulties on a daily basis,” he said.

Officials repeatedly assured that a second transformer would be installed soon, but all the promises made to date proved to be a mirage for us, Shafi said

Locals requested concerned authorities to look into the matter at an earliest to look into the matter so that locals can heave a sigh of relief.
