Kupwara, Apr 24: The Health authorities in Kashmir valley Saturday assured that the Department is ready for any challenge amid the resurgence of cases.

Addressing the reporters on the sidelines of the inaugural ceremony of the maiden oxygen generation plant at Sub District Hospital Kupwara, Director of Health Services Kashmir Dr. Mushtaq, said that oxygen is vital in times of COVID-19 and it’s the first thing to be used against the virus and everyone has to play a part equally to defeat this virus.

He said that the second wave of coronavirus is already there adding that cases are increasing since the last month but the overall situation is good so far and not that bad.

The Director informed that in a recent meeting with the higher-ups it has been decided to increase the testing across the valley and home isolation who will remain in constant touch with health teams for consultations under proper surveillance.

He impressed upon all to get vaccinated at the earliest saying that if one gets the jab there are very fewer chances of getting the complications including the fewer chances of death.

He maintained that the valley is receiving a regular supply of oxygen and the health department is ready for everything and these oxygen plants are a major relief for the people living in this remote district.

He also said that the department has enough vaccine doses available and the drive is underway and from next month, people from the age group of 18 will be eligible for vacation.

He requested the people to follow the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and get vaccinated.

The Director further said that if there are any problems in the health centers across the districts will be looked into separately and this time the authorities are more just to defeat the deadly Virus.

Notably, the Director Health Services Kashmir along with the District Magistrate Kupwara in the presence of top health officials and doctors integrated the first oxygen generation plant at sub-district hospital Kupwara.
