Srinagar, Apr 26: The employees of JLNM hospital in Srinagar engaged under the Hospital Development Fund (HDF) on Monday staged a protest against the authorities for failing to release their pending salaries for the last 15 months.
The HDF employees assembled at Srinagar’s Press Enclave and chanted slogans in favour of their demands.
State President of HDF Health Employees, Nisar Ahmad said that they have not received their salaries for the last 15 months, saying that “We are in direct contact with COVID-19 positive patients, and are working along with other COVID warriors but our job and dedication is being neglected and we have not being paid salaries for the last 15 months.”
“Our 50 per cent of staff got infected by COVID while one among us has also died due to the virus. Our children got infected but the government is not paying any heed towards our sufferings,” he added.
He further said they are moving from pillar to post to seek justice but nothing has been done in this regard.
The protesting HDF employees threatened to begin hunger strike, saying that “if our salaries are not paid till May 01, we will begin a hunger strike in the hospital for which the government will be held responsible.”
