Srinagar, May 10: Contractual teachers working in different colleges of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday said that government was not using their services despite having vacancy everywhere and most students aren’t getting online classes during the pandemic.
Jammu and Kashmir Contractual Teachers Association (JKCTA) vice president Dr Mohammad Yousuf Nengroo said that “apropos to “ Ache din”, “we contractuals were also waiting for the same, but unfortunately Academic Arrangement working in different colleges of Kashmir Division are facing harassment in one way or the other. Undoubtedly, there is work in colleges as in every subject there isn’t regular faculty available, but they aren’t utilising our services. In fact, they are luring us to withdraw our court cases.”
On the other side in the various colleges of Jammu Division everything is going on smoothly. After state re-organisation act Kashmir Division have suffered a lot, Nengroo said.
Recently, University of Kashmir has instructed colleges of the Kashmir valley to take exams online but they are hell bent not to utilize our services as they have taken court case personally. Is approaching to court a crime? They aren’t thinking on grass root level, he asked.
“They are violating directions of Hon’ble High court of J&K again and again and aren’t afraid of anything. Why the law is so poor that “We” who are on court orders are on the verge of begging, he added further.
Contractual are in mental depression as they can’t feed their families and now covid is killing us silently, Nengroo said. “On an average, 50 thousands students got admission in different 54 Degree colleges of the Kashmir Division. Now you can calculate the income, these colleges have! Whereas these newly admitted students are waiting for their online classes, perhaps that is not possible in this year in Kashmir Division.”
On the other hand, the administration of Jammu Division are in the process of engaging the teachers for new academic session 2021-2022. “We have to accept that they are sincere towards their young generation as far as their education is concerned. They care for their future and for their well being as well,” he added.
“In Kashmir, the scenario is different. Our Intellectuals (High Officials in Higher Education) whose kith and kin are studying outside states or foreign countries, bother least for the students who are studying in the Degree colleges of the Valley,” he added.
He requested higher ups to kindly look into the matter at an earliest so that our dependent families will not suffer further as delay in our utilization of services will definitely impact us to the extent that our families will starve.
