Div Com holds review of covid containment measures in R S Pura with public representatives

Seeks their cooperation in mitigation efforts

Jammu, May 17: Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr Raghav Langer on Monday visited R S Pura, Sub Division of district Jammu and reviewed the Covid containment measures being implemented by the local administration there.
The Div Com also held a meeting with civil society members and sought their cooperation in mitigation efforts.
The meeting was attended by DDC Member, Garu Ram, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Ram Lal Sharma, SDPO RS Pura Shabir Khan, BDC Chairpersons RS Pura and Suchetgarh, Tehsildar, Block Medical Officer, Chairman, ward members of Municipal Committee, members of market Associations.
The Div Com sought feedback from civil society about the corrective measures needed to contain the spread of the virus in Rural areas. The civil society members gave their valuable suggestions for the effective control of the pandemic.
They apprised the Div Com about the steps need to be taken, including intensifying testing in villages, regular sanitization, establishment of covid control room at medical block level, monitoring of Covid-19 patients and strict enforcement of guidelines etc.
The Div Com directed the Block Medical Officer, R S Pura to identify sites for developing covid care centres in the Sub Division for the asymptomatic/ mild symptom covid patients who cannot manage home isolation.
The Div Com also stressed on the need of opening a control room for tracking/ monitoring of the Covid-19 positive patients and to provide guidance for required medical care. He directed the BMO to immediately set up a block level covid control room and notify helpline numbers including landline and mobile numbers on which the people can call to get their queries cleared.
The Div Com also directed for launching intensive testing drives of the target groups including shopkeepers, vendors, drivers, conductors besides random testing drives at village level.
He also directed the BMO to explore the possibility of developing level-2 facility in a segregated segment of SDH, R S Pura.
The Divisional Commissioner also urged the elected members and civil society to Cooperate with administration in mitigation efforts. He instructed the SDM to launch awareness campaigns at village levels with the involvement of PRIs through loud speakers, distributing pamphlets, making announcements from religious places, through social media, Facebook live etc. to contain the spread of Covid-19 in rural areas.
The local administration was also directed to hold regular meetings/zoom meetings with prominent citizens, elected PRI members of different areas to seek their feedback and support in mitigation efforts.
Earlier, the Div Com also took a round of Market area and inspected the enforcement of government guidelines and orders.
