He said that of the 20 beds 15 will be for the treatment of mild to moderate Covid positive cases while 5 will be the Intense Care Unit (ICU) beds.
“Concerned Block Medical Officer (BMO), has received four advanced ventilator machines under Prime Ministers funds which have been made functional besides 15 beds with high flow oxygen support have been prepared”, he said.
Colonel Varghese said that in case the Covid infection cases show a surge in Uri the Army will help the health authorities to mitigate the challenges so that the people don’t have to suffer.
He also said that this is the remotest area with Pakistan near it but the reach of state government and Army is everywhere to ensure that people of J&K don’t suffer.
He informed that there are a total of 59 active positive cases in Uri of which 7 have been admitted to the hospital.
He further said that two Covid dedicated facilities are functional at Mohra and Uri and in case all beds are occupied Indian Army will come forward to help the health authorities.
Meanwhile, in another event in Baramulla district, the Indian army renovated the cafeteria at Kaman post and has also installed 60 feet flag pole on which the national flag flutters.
An Army spokesman said that the Kaman post is one of the major attractions for visitors especially for motivational tours of the school and college-going children.
He said that the post installs a huge sense of pride, patriotism and also serves as a great reminder of sacrifices made by forefathers.
The motive behind renovating the cafeteria is to provide facilities to the visitors who are always keen to visit this place, the officer said.
