The situation that arises due to the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic has calmed down to a large extent in Jammu and Kashmir, thus allowing the government to announce four-day relaxation in a week. The daily cases have declined from over 5000 to less than 1000 in the Union Territory, giving an indication that the measures taken by the government including the imposition of lockdown has gone in the right direction and has helped in controlling the situation on the ground. With this, the government had also announced the closure of all the educational institutions in Jammu and Kashmir with an aim to prevent the deadly virus from spreading. The online classes have started yet again to educate the students while sitting at their respective homes. But, as the online classes are not parallel to the offline classes, there is a need to start a process of allowing offline classes so that the students here could heave a sigh of relief. At the first instance, the government should consider allowing the registered coaching centres to resume normal functioning so that the classes would resume again and the students can join it. The offline classes are always necessary to get a proper education and the government should consider permitting the educational institutions to start with the classes with proper SOPs. The government should consider allowing coaching centres to resume functioning with 50 per cent attendance on a regular basis, which would not only help in containing the virus, but also in educating the students properly.
