The ongoing health crisis across Jammu and Kashmir like other parts of the country and the globe has brought everyone together to fight the Covid pandemic that claimed lakhs of lives across the globe since its outbreak in 2020. The respective governments in every Country, State and the Union Territories have been doing their best to end the pandemic and at the same time, the people too have been showing interest in assisting the government in the fight against the deadly virus. Similarly in Jammu and Kashmir, the people especially youth too are on the forefront to help in containing the virus. The social media groups under the title of ‘SOS’ have also been sharing their bit in the ongoing fighting against the pandemic. However, as the people across the globe observed World Blood Donor day, there is a need to create awareness in this regard also, as the blood transfusion has been helping in saving precious lives. According to the experts, the lives of a number of people can be saved by blood transfusion which include women who suffer complications during childbirth, people who suffer traumatic injuries from being in accident, shooting or stabbing victims, victims of natural disasters, including earthquakes, surgery patients and patients with haemophilia, sickle cell disease or cancer. Thus in order to help and save the lives of people, these SOS groups and NGOs and others should also work in tandem with the government as well as the private hospitals with regard to the blood transfusion so that the precious lives can be saved. The government too should create awareness in this regard so that the people with good health can come forward and donate their blood to help the patient in need.
