Srinagar, Jun 17: In absence of the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Kashmir, the passengers here have been pushed to the wall yet again as according to them they are being forced to pay extra bus fare by the transporters.
The passengers who used to travel from Srinagar from different parts of Kashmir and vice-versa here have said that the exorbitant bus fare by the transporters is being ignored, thus leaving the passengers to the lurch at large.
Ali Muhammad, one of the passengers said that they are being looted by the transporters, who on the name of 50 per cent seat capacity order are charging exorbitant fare from them. “Most of the transporters don’t comply with the government orders, but when it comes to the fare, they are charging hefty amounts from the passengers,” he said.
He said that the transporters are charging as per their will and there has been no check over it, adding that the passengers from across the Valley are being pushed to the wall.
Officials in the RTO office said that in absence of the Regional Transport officer (RTO), fewer check posts are being laid to act against the violators.
Meanwhile, when contacted Transport Commissioner J&K Pradeep Kumar, he said that people with such complaints can immediately talk to the concerned police station or traffic police in order to act against the norm violators. (KNO)
