Bandipora, Jun 19: Authorities on Saturday exhumed the body of a 35-year-old woman in Khumna village of Hajin in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district after receiving a complaint from the family that she was murdered, an official said.
An official said that the police along with the medical team reached the village and exhumed the body in presence of Naib Tehsildar Hajin following which the body was shifted to community health centre (CHC), Sumbal for post-mortem.
The official said that the team from Srinagar was also called for the FSL report the result of which is awaited. Soon after post-mortem and all legal formalities the body was buried again at the same graveyard.
“If any indication of murder comes up in the autopsy report, the legal action will be taken against the accused. Police have initiated proceedings under 174-CrPc and have detained two persons including the deceased woman’s husband,” an official said.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Bandipora, Mohammad Zahid said that the body was taken for post-mortem and the exact cause of death can be ascertained after receiving the report. He said that the matter came to the fore on the complaint of the deceased woman’s family from Gund Jahngeer.
Last week the deceased woman’s family staged a protest, demanding exhumation and post-mortem of their daughter who according to them was allegedly killed by her husband at Khumna village.
