The vaccination drives are going on across Jammu and Kashmir since January 16 this year, but a large number of people continue to remain unvaccinated, thus increasing the risk of getting infected to the deadly virus, known as COVID-19. The government has started vaccination drives and melas at district levels to encourage the people to receive the vaccination jabs. The reluctance shown by a large number of people has forced the mainstream as well as the religious groups across the Union Territory to make a fervent appeal to the people to turn up at the camps and get the vaccination shots. However, the rate of vaccinated people is still low as the target has not been achieved yet. The target has been achieved in the four districts out of 20 in J&K while as in other districts; the drives are still going on. The political parties in Jammu and Kashmir have the support of a huge chunk of people on the ground and thus they must be considered to be roped in at this juncture so that they can use their cadres to help the government in achieving the target set by the administration in all the districts of the Union Territory. The political parties should also come forward at this juncture to help in combating the virus and encourage their cadre and especially their youth wings so that the adults falling in the age group of 18-44 would turn up at the government designated vaccination camps to receive the Covid shots.
