Ganderbal, Jul 6: Three persons were arrested and around 248 cements bags, meant for government works, were recovered from their possession in Gund area of Kangan in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Tuesday, police said here.
An official said that three persons were arrested involved in illegal sale and possession of government cement.
“On specific information, a police party from PS Gund under the supervision of SDPO Kangan raided two spots at Fraw Haknar & Ganiwan Gund and seized 248 bags of government cement from the possession of three persons identified as Ishtiyaq Ahmad Shah son of Abdul Ahad Shah, Mushtaq Ahmad Shah son of Abdul Ahad Shah—both residents of Fraw Gund and Ehsan-ul-Haq son of Abdul Ahad Bhat, resident of Sumbal Bala Gund,” police, in a statement said.
The statement reads that the cement was meant for government works only and was labelled as “Not for Retail Sale”.
“The accused persons were arrested and shifted to police station. Accordingly, cases vide FIR Nos. 31/2021, 32/2021 and 33/2021 under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Gund and investigations have been initiated,” the statement reads.
It further reads that consistent actions against anti-social elements should reassure the community members that police are making every effort to keep the society free of crime.
“Police have resolved to act as per law against those who indulge in criminal activities,” the statement reads.
