Srinagar, Jul 7: A delegation led by former Indian Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha Wednesday met former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti at her Gupkar residence here in Kashmir capital Srinagar.
Pertinently, members from Concerned Citizens’ Group (CCG) New Delhi were on 3 day visit in Kashmir and before leaving back to New Delhi, the delegation called on Mehbooba Mufti.
When contacted, Yashwanth Sinha said that he will share details about his Kashmir visit in New Delhi. “Yes, we met Mehbooba Mufti today and yesterday we had interactions with cross section of people including journalists, human rights groups, politicians, civil society members. We will prepare a report and share the details in coming days,” Sinha said.
Sources said that during the meeting with Mehbooba Mufti, there was a threadbare discussion on current situation in Kashmir. They said Mehbooba Mufti expressed anguish over BJP led central Government’s approach towards Kashmir. She justified over her party’s decision of staying away from delimitation exercise and also informed the delegation about the continuous imprisonment of political prisoners in different jails of India.
