Bandipora, Jul 14: An elderly woman was crushed to death by an army vehicle on Bandipora-Srinagar road at Nadihal area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Wednesday, officials said.
Officials said that the woman identified as Hussun Jani, wife of Abdul Rehman a resident of CA-Khan village, died after she was hit by an army vehicle while crossing the road in Nadihal today afternoon.
A senior police officer said that the accident took place at Nadihal Bandipora,in which an old aged woman was hit by an army vehicle and died on spot.
He said that the dead body of the woman was shifted to hospital for completion of medico legal formalities.
“In this regard an FIR under relevant sections of law has been registered and the vehicle has also been seized,” an officer said, adding that further investigation of the case is going on.
Meanwhile, the local residents staged a protest against the tragic incident and demanded legal action against the erring army driver.
