When will City roads be macadamized?

The miseries of people living across Kashmir have not mitigated even after the tall claims being made from the last several years regarding the development of Jammu and Kashmir as the situation along Srinagar-Jammu highway continue to remain the same. The highway continues to witness frequent closure especially whenever it rains. The light rains along the highway led to the frequent closure of the road as the wet spell usually triggers landslides that block the road and take a huge amount of time to clear the debris. This highway connects the Valley with the rest of the Country. The road blockade has been resulting in goldmine for many. It has been observed that whenever the highway remains shut, the black-marketing reaches its peak while overpricing of essential commodities skyrockets in the Valley, besides, the travel agents too use to charge hefty amounts for airfare. There is a need to ensure that the promises done with the people of the Valley are fulfilled in the shortest possible time especially with regard to the highway as it has drained a huge amount of people so far and also led to hardships from time to time for the people. The government should consider taking immediate steps in this regard and ensure that the road is feasible for the people round-the-clock.
