Srinagar, Jul 27: The inadequate staff and cash counters at Valley’s prominent tertiary care hospital, SK Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) here have left the attendants in lurch after they were made to wait for hours together to pay the amount for different tests and other related examinations on Tuesday.
The attendants here have alleged that they remained in the large queue from 08:00 Am today till afternoon to pay the fee for different tests and other related issues.
The attendants faced tremendous hardships today as only two cash counters including one for women, remained open for public dealing while only one staff member was available to tackle the rush of the large number of attendants.
“I was waiting for the last three hours for my turn. As soon as I reached near the cash counter, the only staff member abruptly closed the counter for lunch, thus forcing all of us here to face hardships,” an attendant said.
The attendants who were made to wait for hours together today said that this is clear negligence on part of the SKIMS administration as anything can happen with their patient till they are forced to remain stuck here for over three hours.
They added that in view of the huge rush of the patients this hospital receives on a regular basis, there is a need to ensure that adequate staff members as well as the cash counters are made available for the general public so that they (attendants or patients) could heave a sigh of relief.
Meanwhile, PRO SKIMS, Kulsooma said that the matter has been taken up with the higher ups for redressal.
“We have received the complaint in this regard. Such complaints are not being received on a regular basis. However, I have taken up the matter with the higher ups and the grievance will be redressed soon,” she said.
