The new variant of Coronavirus, known as ‘Delta Virus’, is spreading at a rapid pace in some countries. The fast spread has come at a time when the health experts here have predicted the possible third wave of the Covid. What is the need of the hour is to prevent the new variant as well as others existing from spreading. The only preventive measure with us is the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) issued by the government as well as the health experts. The wearing of masks, is one among the major weapons with the people across the globe to prevent the deadly virus from spreading. However, it has been observed that the people across Kashmir do away with the SOPs and could be seen without face masks in the markets and other public places, which are detrimental for the prevalent situation. One fails to understand why the people are showing reluctance to adhering to the guidelines issued by the health experts. The implementing agencies on a regular basis issue a statement with regard to the Covid norm violations and it has been observed that over 3000 people are being fined every day here, thus showing the negligence of the general public. If we want to stay away from the third wave, we should follow the guidelines in spirit. We must not allow the delta virus to attack us as it will create havoc and would add to the miseries of the people.
