Empowering young minds: Building better future through youth leadership

There is no doubt that the rush of visitors along Baba Demb and Khanyar road has increased after the government took measures with regard to the beautification of the water body. The fences and the paths constructed and decorated by the government have attracted a large number of people so far. The stinking smell coming out of the water body doesn’t exist anymore. However, people living adjacent to the areas have termed the decorum as half-hearted efforts as they claimed that a large portion of the water body, commonly known as Brari Nambal has been left unattended as the heaps of garbage, besides non-clearance of the grass and other related things could be seen piling there. At a time when the decorum near a government higher secondary school has attracted the large chunk of the society, the government should understand that the place, if decorated and cleaned fully, can attract not only locals, but outside visitors as well. As it is rightly said that Kashmir has a huge tourism related potential, the government should consider renovating such locations completely so that the youngsters would be able to earn not only at a few places, but at the countless number of the places existing across Jammu and Kashmir. The government should consider starting fencing and cleaning Brari Nambal here so that it can restore the charm and decorum of the water body, which has been witnessed decades ago.
