Pulwama, Aug 10: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan, conducted an extensive tour of Lethpora, Pulwama to take stock of various ongoing development works being executed in the area.
Advisor also assessed disaster mitigation efforts, winter preparedness of PDD and arrangements being put in place for upcoming 75th Independence Day besides listening to issues and concerns of several delegations who called on him during his visit to the area.
Advisor was accompanied by Chairman District Development Council, Syed Abdul Bari, Deputy Commissioner, Baseer ul Haq Choudhary, Senior Superintendent of Police, Mohammad Yousuf, SE R&B, Executive Engineers, district officers, DDC members, BDC Chairpersons and other senior officers of the district.
Advisor inspected several ongoing and completed development works in Lethpora including passenger shed at Ladhoo Stop Lethpora completed at an estimated cost of Rs 2.00 lakh under 14th FC, playfield constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 11.08 lakh under B2V, Covid Care Center Lethpora and other related works.
DDC apprised the Advisor that 650 works have been identified for inauguration and foundation laying.
Advisor asked the concerned officers to engage PRI members in inspection of all ongoing works in their respective areas for effective monitoring. He asked them to expedite the pace of work on all projects so that the same are completed within the set timelines.
Advisor Baseer Khan, later, chaired a meeting to review arrangements for the upcoming Independence day celebrations.
DC informed that all requisite arrangements including security arrangements had been put in place for smooth celebration of the day.
Reviewing Covid mitigation efforts, Advisor emphasized the need for collective efforts of local administrations and the civil society to contain any further spread of this dreaded disease work. He appreciated the role of healthcare workers and other frontline workers towards combating Covid-19. He stressed on dealing with the situation as per the recommended guidelines and operating procedures. He asked the district administration to encourage and recognize the work done by the Corona warriors.
Advisor Khan directed the officers to make all requisite arrangements for ensuing winter season to ensure people do not suffer on this account. He said there should be no frequent power cuts or scarcity of transformers and other related utilities in rural areas. He asked the PDD officers to replace damaged poles, conductors and wires. He directed the concerned officers to strictly follow District Disaster Management Plan especially for higher vulnerable reaches.
Advisor Khan emphasized maximum participation of people in the I-Day functions amid strict adherence to Covid Appropriate Behavior. He asked for involving NGO’s, local youth and civil society members in the sanitation drives. He directed for running IEC campaigns regarding government sponsored schemes during the celebration.
Advisor further directed for organizing sports events in the district besides launching plantation drives.
Advisor also interacted with the DDC members who raised several problems and demands like renovation and up-gradation of roads, bringing other tourist places on tourism map of the UT, completion of bridges at Reshipora and Dogripora, construction of bridges at Aripal Tral, construction of parks near Chatlum Wetland and construction of Tribal Bhavan at Galander.
Advisor assured them that all their genuine issues will be redressed in a phased manner.
