Budgam Aug 13: A specially challenged person from central Kashmir’s Budgam district has been selected for Indian Cricket team to play for one Day International Series (ODI) series against Bangladesh.
An official said that, Nayeem Malla, a 25-year-old youth from Arath, Budgam has been selected for international cricket against Bangladesh under “disabled category.”
A letter received by Nayeem from General Secretary of BDCA, K Rami Reddy reads: “On behalf of the BDCA and its Board members I wish to inform and congratulate you that based on your past performance and the recently concluded four days probable Cricket Selections Camp at Hyderabad organized by Board of Disabled Cricket Association, you have been selected in the Indian Cricket Team for the ODI series against Bangladesh. You have also been selected in test match and T-20 series against Bangladesh”.
Nayeem’s family members said that their son had already represented Jammu and Kashmir at National level and “we hope he will play well at the international level.”
“I had already played trials at Hyderabad and coaches were impressed by my performance and finally, I have been informed about my selection for which I received an official letter from the Board,” said a visibly happy Nayeem, adding that “I was selling shawl’s in Kolkata and have worked as labourer to support my family financially.”
