Srinagar, Sep 1: Physical fitness and professional skills to perform duties are most important for Police personnel and refreshing these skills from time to time is essential to stay updated & relevant. This was stated by the Director General of Police J&K Dilbag Singh while addressing J&K Police’s Armed contingents who had participated in this year’s Independence Day parade, at Armed Police Complex Humama, Budgam today on the sidelines of a Bada Khana organized for them.
The DGP was the chief guest on Bada Khana organized by Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police Headquarters under the command of ADGP SJM Gillani.
The DGP while addressing J&K Armed Police officers & jawans reiterated that during the 15th August celebrations this year all the contingents exhibited exemplary drill, discipline despite bad weather. He said that the rehearsal which he witnessed during his visit to Zewan and the Independence Day Parade depicted the hard work of our jawans. The DGP said that he was happy to know that all the battalions are conducting refresher courses for their personnel. He said that physical fitness and professional skills are of immense significance to the police force to perform their duties perfectly. He said that refresher courses will help upgrade and update the skills we have besides adding to our physical fitness. He lauded the role of ADGP Armed J&K for organising these refresher courses in which 50 personnel of each battalion are taking part every month. The target is to put each officer & jawan to one month training in a year, he added.
Singh said challenges never end and for Police personnel until retirement challenges keep coming. He said that J&K Police personnel should be able to perform multiple tasks. He directed the ADGP Armed that besides refresher courses, orientation courses on security duties should also be conducted especially for performing personnel security officer duties. He also directed for organising commando courses and stressed for rotational tenures. He directed the officers to take notice of important issues neglected for long and take immediate remedial measures.
The DGP said that Police Headquarters is always at the back of its officers and jawans. He said that welfare measures right from the SPOs to the senior officers are being taken care of on day to day basis. He said that all policemen effected with the Pandemic and anyone injured in law & order or counter militancy operations have been provided suitable financial relief.
