The dilapidated conditions of the roads across Srinagar, has continued to give tough time to the commuters as the concerned department has failed to complete the macadamization process on the vital routes. The government had informed that a large-scale macadamization process will be started across the Valley in this season and the roads have already been identified. However, the roads especially in Srinagar areas have been left unattended, thus adding to the miseries of the commuters. Although the concerned department started the macadamization process in Srinagar and elsewhere, one fails to understand why the major roads in Srinagar have been left unattended. In one such instance, the vital road link which helps people to reach to Dargah Hazratbal and valley’s lone tertiary care hospital SKIMS Soura through Foreshore Road craves for an official attention as the less than half kilometer stretch has never been macadamized over these years. People living around the area have been complaining that the authorities seem to be least bothered to macadamize Shalimar-Foreshore linking which gives tough time to the commuters. Risky potholes have turned this vital road stretch vulnerable for even pedestrians to walk on, as the concerned authorities always turn a blind eye towards the safety of the people. Therefore, there is a need to identify all the left-out roads in Srinagar and elsewhere so that the macadamization process is started forthwith and the people could heave a sigh of relief.
