Bandipora, Sep 27: The construction of a Boys Middle School building at Gujarpati Bazipora village of Ajas in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district remains incomplete even though the work was started almost six years ago.
Locals said that the school building for Government Boys Midde school in Gujarpati Bazipora was constructed six years ago but is yet to be made functional as half of the constructed building has been termed as “unsafe.”
Locals said that the present school lacks the basic infrastructure and proper accommodation after which the authorities had built this new building but it is still incomplete even after six years.
They said that the government left the construction work mid-way and left the building abandoned.
“We have informed the concerned authorities about pending work of this building many times but they have not done anything yet,” Imran Rather, a social activist, said, adding that owing to delay in release of funds for construction of the building, the school administration is compelled to organise classes in old building that has very little space, which has affected the quality of education.
Rather demanded immediate completion of the school building. “The students here have no option but to share the classrooms,” he said.
Despite repeated attempts officials at chief education office Bandipora didn’t respond to the calls from this correspondent.
Meanwhile, an official from the district administration said that, “he will look into the matter.”
