DLSA Kupwara convenes awareness programme on BBBP

Kupwara, Oct 11: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kupwara Monday organized a day long awareness programme on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP), at Town Hall Kupwara.
Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairman DLSA, Tasleem Arief was the chief guest on the occasion.
The awareness programme was conducted as part of Pan India Awareness and Outreach Programme and ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and in observance of international day of girl child.
Speaking at the occasion, the Principal District and Sessions Judge threw light on the legal values of observing awareness on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao. He said the Judiciary is always at the back of women folk. He enlisted various flagship programmes aimed at welfare and empowerment of women.
Earlier, Secretary DLSA Muzamil Wani gave the welcome address and highlighted the structure of legal services and its role in facilitation of justice for girl children. He stressed that DLSA is bridging the gap between justice and people in deprivation.
Later, a felicitation ceremony was also held in which the chief guest and other special guests distributed mementos and gifts among girl achievers and new mothers of the district.
Participants included officers from police, social welfare and civil administration apart from lawyers and students.
People and participants expressed gratitude for the DLSA in this great gesture.
Awareness programme on Beti Padhao Beti Bachao was also held at Tangdar under the Chairmanship of Munsif Court Tangdar, Wasim Mirza.
