Jammu, Oct 12: Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested an Over Ground Worker (OGW) in Jammu district.
Police officials said that an OGW from Anantnag, who was reportedly in touch with handlers from across border was held, saying that he was tasked to collect the drone dropped consignment of arms and ammunition that was found lying in fields in Phalian Mandal area of Satwari in Jammu on October 2.
Police said that during the investigation, some vital clues were received by the investigation team and an OGW from Anantnag was put under scanner who was found in constant touch with some militant outfits from across the border.
“He was tasked to collect this drone dropped consignment of arms and ammunition and to carry it to Valley,” said officials while identifying the arrested OGW as Irfan Ahmed Bhat, son of Farooq Ahmed Bhat of Anantnag.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Chandan Kohli said that the arrested OGW was asked to collect the consignment, which, however, was recovered by police in an operation.
