Kupwara, Nov 2: Security forces in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district Tuesday said that it has arrested a “hardcore over ground worker OGW” and recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition and brown sugar-like substance from him.
The officials said that they had specific information about the arrested individual that he had received the consignment from across the border.
An official spokesman in a statement said that in a joint operation based on the input that one person namely Adil Hussain S/o Mir Haider Shah R/o Takia Badarkote who is a hardcore overground worker (OGW) and is also involved in narco militancy has received a consignment of weapons and narcotics from across the border.
Spokesman said that after the inputs a search was conducted in his house at Takia Baderkote by Kupwara police along with locals.
“During searches, Two AK-47 Rifles, Two AK Magazines, and 208 AK rounds were seized from his house”, the spokesman said. “During questioning, he disclosed that one Faraz Ahmed s/o Mir Shah r/o Padna Prara is the main supplier of weapons to militants and had given the seized weapons to him too.
Spokesman said that the house of Faraz Ahmad Shah was also searched from which four pistols along with five magazines and one packet of brown sugar-like substance was recovered from his house.
A spokesman said that, however, Shah had already fled from his house while searches were on to arrest him.
