Srinagar, Nov 3: General officer Commanding (GoC) of Srinagar-based army’s 15 Corps Lieutenant General D P Pandey along with senior officials on Wednesday paid a surprise visit to Shopian district of southern Kashmir where he distributed sweets and interacted with the locals.
Official sources said that GoC 15 Corps during a surprise visit to main town Shopian interacted with some locals and shopkeepers in Batapora area.
“The GoC and other army officials distributed sweets among the locals on the eve of Diwali,” they said. “During interaction with people, different issues were touched after which some youth were seen taking selfies with the commander.”
Lt Gen Pandey was accompanied by GoC Victor Force Rashm Bali and other senior army officers. It is pertinent to mention here that Pandey held a direct meeting with kin of active militants in Shopian in August this year where he urged them to bring their children back assuring them a normal life ahead.
