Cases rise again: CAB must

The number of Covid positive cases has once again witnessed a surge in Jammu and Kashmir, especially in the Valley, which poses a threat to normal life in the Union Territory. In the last couple of days, Jammu and Kashmir is recording nearly or over 100 daily positive cases, thus adding to the number of active positive cases. There are people who believe that non adherence to the Covid guidelines is the only reason behind the surge in the cases in Jammu and Kashmir. It has been observed that no one including children, young, old, male as well as female don’t adhere to the Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB), which is a must to combat the virus once for all. Although the death rate due to Covid had declined to a large number, from the last few days it also recorded a surge in the Union Territory. Amid the rise in cases, the Union Health Ministry has asked the Jammu and Kashmir government to undertake a review of rising COVID-19 cases and weekly positivity rates, and enhance testing. Therefore, in order to curb the rising number of cases, the government should enhance the testing capacity and implement the CAB in letter and spirit so that the cases could be prevented from spreading well one time. The surge in the number of cases could deteriorate the situation and can also lead to the curbs as witnessed in the past. Thus, besides the government, the people should also follow the guidelines in spirit to help in preventing the virus from spreading.
