Srinagar, Nov 5: The higher reaches of Kashmir including the world famous ski-resort, Gulmarg, received fresh snowfall on Friday while rains lashed plains, bringing down the maximum temperature across the Valley.
Deputy Director Meteorological department (MeT), Mukhtar Ahmad said that the day temperature has plummeted across the Valley due to the fresh wet spell, adding that several higher reaches of Kashmir have received fresh snowfall today.
“The minimum temperature has gone up while the maximum temperature has plummeted today,” he said, adding that the day-long wet weather conditions would end till late evening.
“There is a possibility of improvement in the weather conditions from tomorrow. According to the forecast, the weather would remain mostly dry till November 14,” Ahmad said.
According to the officials, Gulmarg, a world famous ski-resort, has received 5 inches of snowfall today.
Moreover, the fresh snowfall at few places including Razdan top and Pir ki Gali has resulted in closure of Bandipora-Gurez road and Mughal road respectively.
Bandipora-Gurez road was closed for vehicular movement after fresh snowfall on Razdan top, an official said.
Authorities in Poonch district also stopped vehicular traffic on Mughal road after fresh snowfall. “We have closed the road for traffic and no vehicle is permitted to ply on the road,” said a traffic cop.
