Kulgam, Nov 11: An unidentified militant was killed in an encounter at Chawalgam village of southern district of Kulgam on Thursday while as the operation was on, police said.
A senior police officer said that an encounter broke out between security forces and the militants after contact with the militants was established in the afternoon. The official said that police, army’s 9 RR and the CRPF cordoned off the suspected spot and offered surrender to the hiding militants. “The militants refused to surrender and instead fired at the forces. In the ensuing gunfight, one unidentified militant was killed,” the officer said.
Kashmir zone police tweeted that unidentified militant was killed in an ongoing encounter at Chawalgam while as the operation was on. Police said that the operation got delayed due to the darkness and that the cordon layers have been tightened to ensure remaining militants aren’t able to flee. “Lights have been installed to keep a watch on the spot where militants are hiding,” they said.
