Tral, Nov 20: The residents of Gujjar Basti Bajwani in Tral hamlet of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district are ups in arms against the government for failing to provide basic facilities in the area.
Locals said that due to unavailability of proper road connectivity people of the area are facing many difficulties during emergencies.
They said that there are dozens of households in the area but without any basic facility in the area.
“There is no proper arrangement of water supply, electricity, road and other basic facilities in the area and administration is acting as a mute spectator,” locals said.
Locals said that all political parties visit the area during election time only and once they get elected, “nobody bothers to visit the area again”. “We have been used by all parties for their own benefits.”
“Even officials have visited hundreds of times in the area who assure us that very soon area will get all basic facilities but on ground it proves hoax,” locals said.
Locals said that they don’t have any school in the area due to which they have to take their children far away in morning and bring them back in evening for education.
“Every year media highlights our issues after which officials visit here but no ground our problems escalate,” a local lady said.
Locals said that area has no water facility in the area, due to which locals are forced to drink contaminated water.
“There is no anganwadi centre in area besides there is no proper electricity facility in the area due to which they are suffering especially in bone chilling winter nights,” they said.
“We request higher ups especially LG Manoj Sinha to look into the matter at an earliest so that they can have a sigh of relief,” they said.
