The security guards have been working day in and day out to ensure safety of the public money in the Automatic Teller Machine (ATM). But, it is unfortunate that these guards, who are working on a meagre amount, don’t have the job security and are being directed to work on further fewer amounts. Recently, the Jammu and Kashmir Bank handed over the security of the bank to a new company, which has resorted to a salary cut of the workers who are now working in the bank as security personnel for the last more 10-13 years. Such a decision at this juncture and after working with dedication has pushed them to the wall. This decision has almost left the security guards jobless, which needs a kind attention from the higher ups of the J&K Bank. One needs to understand that it is not the company, but these security guards, who ensure security and safety to the public money in the banks as well as in the ATMs. During COVID-19 and the law and order situation, these security guards risk their lives to ensure that the common people don’t suffer and also the public money if protected. Therefore, the new company should consider all their genuine points and pay full salary to them. Besides, the J&K Bank should consider intervening into the matter so that the tussle between the company and the security guards will not land the people in trouble.
