It has been a month now since the new academic session has started; however, most of the government school students have not been provided the textbooks yet, which is adding to their misery. The delay in distribution of books has taken place at a time when the poor kids have already suffered huge educational losses due to the closure of schools and continuation of online mode of education in wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. One fails to understand how long the poor school-going children are supposed to face the educational losses. In order to ensure better education to the children, the text books should have been distributed among the students. Nonetheless, the ground situation is quite contrary as there has been inordinate delay in distribution of the books. The education department has the pivotal responsibility to ensure that the educational losses suffered by the children are compensated in any way. It seems that the department is reluctant to distribute the books among the children on time, which in result is pushing them to the wall. Therefore, the concerned authorities should on the priority find the ways to reopen all the educational institutions across Jammu and Kashmir and thereafter distribute the books among the students so that the further educational losses are prevented. It is the high time to look into the matter and the people at the helm should ensure that the precious time of the students is not wasted any further.
