Pampore, Nov 25: The residents of Khrew area in Pampore hamlet of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday staged a protest for scheduled electricity and water supply in the area.
Residents said that despite living in a municipality area, they are facing unscheduled power cuts and shortage of drinking water.
Locals said that despite there being dozens of fresh water springs due to wrong policies of the local municipal committee, all dirt from drains flows into these springs.
“We are hardly getting water supply for just 15 minutes. Every day, we have to hear one or the other excuse from the officials,” they said.
Locals said that a new water supply scheme has been constructed in the area but due to unknown reasons it hasn’t been made functional.
Locals said that the pesky power cuts are prevalent in the area due to which locals are suffering.
“If we are paying a fee, why aren’t we given the same facilities which are given to other municipalities,” they questioned.
“We have brought these issues to the notice of higher ups several times but their repeated promises have proved a hoax on ground,” they said.
“We once again request higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest so that locals can heave a sigh of relief,” locals said.
